Prayer Ministry
Dear Friends,
Are you in need of some “Spiritual Sunlight” for the month of September? Indeed, according to a
noted Unity author, prayer is spiritual sunlight! Elizabeth Searle Lamb wrote a lovely description of it
in a prayer I’d like to share with you. I found the following in one of those wonderful old Unity-
published booklets from 1997. Its words are just right to calm and soothe me when that’s what I most
need.
At times, things can get pretty hectic, so I’m always grateful for a few moments of respite from the cares of daily life.
Remember, even Jesus needed to go apart from His disciples to pray and meditate whenever He could do so.
Prayer is the perfect antidote to the complexities of life. So I offer you some spiritual sunlight to help make your
September a little more peaceful and harmonious:
Now do I go apart from the world. I close the outer door that I may not be distracted by people. I sit comfortably
relaxed, still and serene.
Now I close the door of my mind on the outer things. Peace, peace, I say. I rest now, quietly, without word, without
thought, without emotion. Peace, be still.
Now I center my attention, my concern, on God. I look to God, peacefully relaxed, serene and quiet.
Slowly I begin to feel that inner stillness grow and encircle me. A sort of spiritual sunlight envelops me. I am warm
and comforted. I am quiet with a living quietness. Here, in this holy communion with God-Spirit, I am re-created. I
am healed. I am blessed in all ways. And I am shown the way which God-Spirit would have me go, the work which
God would have me do.
I am enveloped in the spiritual sunshine of divine love—both loving and receiving love within that radiant glow. And
I give thanks. AMEN.
Best wishes for a SUNNY September!
